What are the risks of obesity? There are quite a few and they're pretty serious unless you something about your overweight problem.
Diabetes
It's very common for obese people to develop diabetes and what's even more sad is that they usually develop Type 2 Diabetes. Even if you are a bit overweight, your chances to develop diabetes are growing, and the more weight you put on, the more exposed to this you become.
Type 2 diabetes is a serious condition and you should be aware of the fact that around 80% of the people suffering of diabetes are overweight.
Heart problems
This is probably the most well known fact about overweight condition, and especially in the case of morbid obesity or child obesity. All heart problems are more likely to occur to overweight people: risk of collapsing, heart attack or even die suddenly. Moreover, people who are obese generally suffer from high blood pressure, which can also lead to other very serious problems.
Breathing problems
This is a common problem when you are overweight. All that excess weight fatigues your body and crashes it, and normal efforts become harder, like climbing the stairs or walking somewhat longer distances. Even tying your shoe laces becomes a problem and gets more difficult than it used to be. When this happens, you should know that you have a problem and do something about it. The first step would be to see a physician.
Emotional problems
Now this is a tough one on most obese people because emotional, psychological problems lead overweight people to eat more and gain more weight instead of doing something about their problem.
Depression, mood swings and insecurity are common problems which many obese people develop in time. And in many cases, these emotional baggage is much more unbearable than the condition and it's problems themselves.
Overall, obesity is a serious problem and a condition that has to be treated in order not to develop more serious problems, not to mention childhood obesity. Whilst being happy about yourself is important, letting obesity affecting your health is plain stupidity.
If you are overweight and healthy, you don't need to go through diets if you don't want to and if you're happy the way things are, but if you weigh a lot more than you should, you should be aware of the problems this could cause and take action. No one says you should have the perfect body, but any physician will tell you that you should care about your health.
All things will turn out to be for the best. Even if you're afraid of changes, you'll know that at least you're in good condition, healthy. These changes the will occur will be positive and you'll feel better and better.
