The two things in life that have the most myths attributed to are probably food and sex, not necessarely in that order. It's probably because these two are the most interesting things in our lives that satisfy us and are worth doing. And they are necessary too; if we don't have sex, we don't reproduce, if we don't eat, we die. I think the latter is worse because of one ancient human nature we all share: selfishness. Let's get on with listing the myths attributed to food.
Are preservatives bad for your body?
No, they're not... and more than that, they keep you in good health. If it weren't for preservatives, we would get sick and die from the food we eat.
Is coffee a good cure for hang overs?
It won't do you harm, that's for sure, but coffee does not cure hang overs. It's quite the opposite... you get hang overs because your body is lacking water and drinking coffee makes you urinate; therefore it does quite the opposite.
Is it ok to eat fast?
Not really because the less you chew the food, the more work will your stomach do in order to get it processed. Why not use your teeth to they're full capabilities if you have them anyway? Your teeth can do a lot of things: from chewing to cutting and that's why we should take care of our oral hygiene. Opening bottles with your teeth is also a bad idea.
Beans equals gas?
Yes... this equation is is correct unfortunately. The thing with beans is they are high in fiber, which produces gas. The same thing is with corn and peppers. A good idea in order to reduce the output of gas produced by beans would be to soak them.
Do carrots improve our eyesight?
They actually don't, but they're improving the overall health of the eyes. The best thing carrots can do is to maintain your current ability to see.
Can swallowing gum cause stomach problems?
Swallowing gum can cause gas, abdominal pain or diarrhea. Gum that contains sorbitol can cause some problems too.
Are cherries a good pain reliever?
Yes and we have a measurement in tart cherries... people that eat 20 tart cherries a day suffer less from arthritis pain.
Does parsley take away bad breath?
Yes, it does, but you'll have parsley breath. All veggies that contain chlorophyll can do that... it's a miracle.
